CBSE Compartment Rules For Class 12 (Released)

The CBSE Class 12 Compartment exam is an important opportunity for students who did not clear the regular exams. It allows students a chance to improve and pass their subjects. All the Rules for the Compartment Exam for CBSE Class 12th are as follows.

  • First Attempt: Students who fall under the Compartment category must appear for the Compartment exam, typically scheduled in July or August after the announcement of the regular exam results.
  • Second and Third Attempts: Students can make a second attempt in March or April of the following year and a third attempt in July or August.
  • Passing Criteria: To be declared “PASS,” students must clear all the Compartment exams they attempt.
  • Failure and Reappearance: If a student fails or does not appear for the Compartment exam, they will be marked as “FAIL” and must reappear according to the prescribed syllabus and courses.
  • Practical Exams: In the case of practical subjects, students can either retake the practical exam or retain the marks from the previous attempt after the third Compartment exam.
  • Syllabus: The syllabus for the Compartment exam in March will remain the same as for the original full-subject exam. It ensures that students are evaluated on the same content.
