The Hominidae family can be traced back to 18 million years ago, when the first ape-like creatures appeared. These creatures were members of the genus Dryopithecus, which eventually gave rise to the great apes. The first humans appeared about 7 million years ago.

Over the years, the Hominidae family has undergone a number of changes. For example, the human lineage has evolved from a primarily quadrupedal (four-footed) creature to a bipedal (two-footed) creature. This change was made possible by the evolution of the human spine, which is more flexible than the spine of other apes.
