Introduction to Red Panda
The red panda, Ailurus fulgens, is a small arboreal mammal of the order Carnivora, native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. It is the only living species of the family Ailuridae. Red pandas are about the size of a domestic cat, with a long, shaggy tail. They are reddish brown in color, with black and white markings on their face, and have a long, bushy tail. They are proficient climbers, and live mainly in trees. Red pandas are omnivorous, eating mostly bamboo, but also fruit, eggs, and small mammals.
