In the previous segment, we learnt about Adaptations in organisms. In this segment, we will learn about The types of habitat and desert habitat.

What are the Different types of habitats?

Habitats are divided into two broad categories based on where they are found; Terrestrial habitat and aquatic habitat.

    What is the Terrestrial habitat?

Habitats that are found on land are called terrestrial habitats. The animals that live in the terrestrial habitat are called Terrestrial Animals.

    What is the Aquatic habitat?

Habitats that are found in water are known as aquatic habitat. The animals that live in aquatic habitats are called Aquatic Animals.

What are the Different types of terrestrial habitats?

There are four major types of terrestrial habitats: desert, mountains, forests, and grasslands.

    What is a Desert habitat?

Deserts are the hot and extremely dry places. The habitats found at these places are known as Desert habitat. To survive in these places, animals like camels and Xerophytes (desert plants) like cactus have special modifications. These adaptations in desert animals are the adjustments to protect them from high temperatures, to live amid water scarcity, and to conserve water and food.
