IIT JEE Chemistry Important Topics

IIT JEE Chemistry Important Topics: Chemical compositions, reactions, mechanisms, chain reactions, and question quality are all nearly identical. The same type of questions has been asked in JEE Exams several times, with the only difference being the level of difficulty. The majority of the questions in JEE Mains 2020 were of a moderate difficulty level. There were a few tough questions, but they were simply handled with good fundamentals and basics. The JEE Chemistry Syllabus contains approximately 25 topics.

Important Chemistry Chapters for JEE Main And Advanced Exams

In order to prepare well, it’s very important to read and revise as much as possible as the majority of topics are theoretical and there are always certain possibilities of forgetting things.

Important Chapters for JEE Main and Advanced:

    1) Physical chemistry:

    a. Mole concept: It is one of the most fundamental and crucial ideas in physical chemistry, and you must prepare thoroughly in order to gain a thorough comprehension of the entire unit. Several questions in JEE Exams come from this subject, although they can be simply solved if you understand the fundamentals.

    b. Atomic structure:: Around 2 to 3 problems from this unit are typically asked in JEE Exams each year, and this unit has no direct relevance with the Mole Concept. Electrochemistry, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Kinetics, and other disciplines are largely developed from mole principles and have approximately identical weightage are essentially derived from the mole concepts and have nearly equal weightage.

    2. Important chapters for JEE Mains and Advance in Inorganic chemistry:

Inorganic Chemistry covers a wide range of issues, all of which are equally significant. As a result, because this is a high-scoring subject, don’t miss any of the topics in this unit. Because there are so many different compounds, you’ll need to learn about their preparation techniques, applications, chemical reactions, and so on. As a result, it is preferable to have a thorough understanding of all the topics covered in the JEE Syllabus from Inorganic Chemistry so that you do not stray from the syllabus when studying.

Several conceptual concerns are posed by the s, p, d, and f-block constituents, thus rather than memorising it, it’s vital to visualise it so that some complex features and compositions may be easily comprehended.

The field of inorganic chemistry encompasses a vast range of topics, all of which are equally important. If you have a strong understanding of the periodic table and the trends in atomic parameters such as atomic radius, electron affinity, electronegativity, ionisation, and electrode potential, you should be able to understand the reactions quite simply.

    3) Organic chemistry

The following parts of organic chemistry can be easily comprehended if you are familiar with the general subjects in organic chemistry, such as nucleophiles, electrophiles, types of reactions, basicity, acidity, and so on. These topics are covered in the JEE syllabus’ broad organic chemistry section.

    a) Named reaction: In organic chemistry, there are several standard named reactions, and you should be familiar with all of them, as well as their mechanisms, so that you can solve any comparable sort of problem posed on the exam

    b) Organic synthesis: This is an important and conceptual aspect of organic chemistry, and every year in JEE Exams, around 2 to 3 questions are asked from this section, which includes writing specific steps to synthesise any given compound using the provided set of reagents with the least amount of effort possible. You may be required to write the missing compounds in any step of the synthesis. As a result, it’s crucial to grasp some of the most common chemical interactions.

    Chemistry section of JEE main

The first session of the JEE Main paper in 2019 consists primarily of direct and easy chemistry questions. Chemistry was the highest scoring component out of the three that included physics and math. All three main units of chemistry – organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry – were given similar weightage in terms of high weightage chapters for JEE mains. The chemistry part, on the other hand, had more problems from the class 12 syllabus, with 17 questions drawn from various chapters. In terms of question distribution, physical chemistry received 12 questions, organic chemistry received 10 questions, and inorganic chemistry received 8 questions. In terms of complexity, three questions needed some mental effort, while 16 were moderately difficult, and 11 were simple. Let’s have a look at the weighting of marks and the number of questions for each topic.
