    JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria 2023

Here is a detailed information of the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2023 exam:

    1. Prior Examination Record: To qualify for JEE Advanced 2023, candidates must have cleared the JEE Main examination of the same year and ranked among the top performers as per the cutoffs.
    2. Age Limit: Age eligibility is an important criterion. For JEE Advanced 2023, candidates should be born on or after October 1, 1998. However, there is a five-year relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
    3. Number of Attempts: A candidate is allowed to attempt JEE Advanced only twice, and that too in consecutive years. Therefore, applicants for JEE Advanced 2023 should be first-time attendees or those who appeared for the first time in the preceding year.
    4. Educational Qualification: A significant criterion is the successful completion of Class 12th or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. Candidates appearing for these exams in 2023 can also apply.
    5. Admission to IITs: Candidates who have already been admitted to an IIT cannot apply. This rule doesn’t apply to those who have withdrawn their admission before the stipulated deadline.
    6. Performance in Class 12th or Equivalent: Candidates must either secure a minimum of 75% in their Class 12th board exams (65% for SC/ST/PwD candidates) or be within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class 12th board or equivalent examination.

Meeting the JEE Advanced 2023 eligibility criteria is merely the initial part of the journey. The more challenging step involves comprehensive preparation and strategic planning to score well and secure a coveted spot in one of the IITs.

Before filling out the application form, candidates should make sure they meet the JEE Advanced eligibility criterion. Students should read the thorough information on the exam’s eligibility criteria provided by the exam’s governing body. It will provide them with a wealth of information regarding the exam, including age requirements, nationality, number of attempts, and more. Those who do not meet the prerequisites will be unable to take the exam.

Eligibility For JEE Advanced Is Determined By JEE Mains Performance

Aspirants must place among the top 2,50,000 (all categories) successful candidates in JEE Main to be considered for JEE Advanced. When there are “tied” ranks/scores in any category, the total number of applicants may be larger than 2,50,000.

The following are the percentages of bookings for various categories:

    Category Percentage

    GEN-EWS 10% OPEN 40.5 percent

    Scheduled Tribes

    (SC) 15% of the total

    Scheduled Tribes (ST)

    OBC & NCL 7.5 percent

5% of total Reservations on the Horizontal

JEE Advanced Eligibility Based On Board Exams From 12th Grade or Other Equivalent Exams

In 2022, the applicants must have passed their class 12th board examinations or any other equivalent test. Applicants who will be taking the board examinations in 2023 are also eligible. Candidates who first took the Class XII (or equivalent) test in 2021 or earlier are ineligible to take the JEE Advanced 2022 exam.

If the results of their class 12th board examinations or any other similar test for the academic year 2022 were released after June 2022, students are eligible to take JEE Advanced. Note: When a board declares the result for a Class XII (or similar) examination, it means that the board proclaimed the result for that year regardless of whether or not the examination was held. Even if the results of a single candidate are withheld, it will be considered an appearance.

Relaxation of Criteria in JEE (Advanced) 2022 as a Special Case

For individuals who initially participated in a class 12th (or equivalent) examination in 2020/2021 AND successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but did not appear, the testing authority has issued a one-time measure. The following are the requirements:

Candidates who first appeared in a class 12th (or equivalent) examination in 2020 OR 2021 AND successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but were absent in both papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2, of JEE (Advanced) 2021, are eligible to directly appear in JEE (Advanced) 2022 and do not need to meet the criteria mentioned above.

They must, however, register for JEE (Advanced) 2022 and pay the registration fee using the online registration portal. Furthermore, these students will be regarded in addition to, rather than as part of, the total number of applicants who will qualify for JEE (Advanced) 2022 based on their performance in JEE (Main).

Due to the ongoing epidemic, the exam authority has clarified that this is a one-time precaution valid only for JEE Advanced 2022. Candidates must check their eligibility for JEE Advanced 2022 by going to the JEE Advanced website and filling out the necessary details during registration.
