In IIT JEE, there are two categories: JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The first phase of JEE is the Main Exam, while the second is the Advanced Exam. In order to proceed to the next stage, candidates must appear and clear JEE Main. National Testing Agency (NTA) has been overseeing and conducting JEE Main since 2019. This exam is usually held more than once a year. Depending on their choice, students can attend one session or all. A merit list will be compiled based on the best score.

IIT JEE Advanced is the final phase of the examination. Candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced will be among the top-ranked candidates (as determined by the exam authority every year). JEE Advanced provides admission to B.E. or B. Tech programs at 23 IITs and 9 Premier Institutes. The JEE Advanced exam consists of two papers and is conducted as an online computer-based test. To qualify for the merit list, you must appear for both paper 1 and paper 2. On a rotating basis, seven different IITs conduct the examination.

JEE is one of the most difficult engineering entrance exams in India and the world. The syllabus of JEE is extensive, and the exam questions are complex.
