    Examples of chemical changes

Let us look at some experiments performed in laboratories to understand the concept of chemical changes.

When baking soda (sodium carbonate) is added to vinegar (acetic acid), the mixture gives out bubbles. These bubbles indicate the liberation of carbon dioxide gas.

The formation of gas in this experiment indicates that the chemical composition of the reactants has undergone a change.
