    • Structural Isomers
    • Summary
    • What’s Next?

In the previous segment, we learnt about Structural isomers. In this segment, we will learn about an example of structural isomers.

    What are Structural isomers?

Structural isomers have the same number of atoms for each element but these atoms are arranged differently to give different structures.

    For example,

1 – Propanol, 2 – Propanol, and Ethyl methyl ether have the same molecular formula, that is,

?3?8?. Their structures are different as shown below:

    1 – Propanol 2 – Propanol Ethyl methyl ether

They have different physical and chemical properties.

    Summary

    Isomers

    • The compounds which have the same molecular formula, but different structural formulas
    • Different physical and chemical properties

    What’s next?

In the next segment of Class 10 Science, we will learn about the properties of carbon compounds.
