    What is the number line?

    Number line

    The Number line is a straight line used to represent numbers on it. It consists of the positive numbers, the negative numbers, and zero. The numbers to the left of zero on the number line are negative numbers whereas the ones to the right of zero are positive numbers. As we move from left to right along the number line, the value of the numbers increases.

    Representing fractions on a number line

    To represent fractions on a number line, we categorise them into two parts:

    • Fractions where numerator < denominator
    • Fractions where numerator > denominator
