Consider an irregular figure as shown below.

Let us understand how to find the area an irregular figure using the following steps:

1. Draw squares of area ? ??^? inside and around it.

1. Count the number of full squares covered by the irregular shape.

Here, there are 3 full squares covered by the shape.

1. Count the number of squares that are half or more than half covered.
