In the previous segment of Class 6 Maths, we solved some **problems based on ratios. **Here, let us have a look at a few more problems on ratio.

## Problem 1

**A rectangular box is 9 cm in length and 30 mm in breadth. What is the ratio of the breadth of the box to its length?**

**Solution:**

Breadth of the box = 30 mm

Length of the box = 9 cm = 9 x 10 mm = 90 mm

∴ The ratio of the breadth of the box to its length = \[30:90\]

30

=

90

30

=

3 × 30

1

=

3

= 1: 3

**∴ The ratio of the breadth of the box to its length is 1 : 3.**

## Problem 2

**Salman travelled 2 km on his motorcycle and 700 m on his cycle. What is the ratio of the distance travelled by Salman on his motorcycle to the distance he travelled on his cycle?**

**Solution:**

Distance travelled by Salman on his cycle = 700 m.

Distance travelled by Salman on his motorcycle = 2 km = 2 x 1000 m = 2000 m.
