In the first segment of the lesson, ‘Understanding elementary shapes’, we will learn about
comparing lengths of line segments.
How can we compare two line segments?
Line segments can be of varying lengths and to compare any two line segments, we need to find the relation between their lengths.
Comparison by observation
This is a very simple method. All we need to do is look at the line segments and we can identify which is the longer or shorter line segment.
For example,
Look at the two line segments AB and CD below. It is obvious that CD is longer than AB.

Comparison by tracing
Sometimes just observing 2 line segments, their lengths cannot be compared. Look at the line segments AB and CD below.
