Finding the Percentage of a quantity – Example

    Q. Alok’s pocket money was ₹40. He spent ₹35. What percentage of the allowance did

    he save? Solution:

    Pocket money = ₹40 Money spent = ₹35

    ∴ Money saved = 40 – 35 = ₹5

Thus, Alok has saved ₹5 out of ₹40 that was given to him.

    That is, savings = 5

    40

    = 5 × 100

    40

    = 12.5%

Thus, Alok saved 12.5% of his allowance.
