In the first segment of the lesson we looked at Exponents and Powers, we will understand the basics.
What are Exponents?
- An exponent refers to the number of times a number is multiplied by itself.
- If a number A is multiplied by itself n times, then it is written as An and it is read as
‘A raised to the power of n’ or the ‘nth power of A’.
- Here A is called the Base and n is called the Exponent.
For example,
3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 37.
Here 3 is the base and the exponent is 7.
It is read as ‘3 raised to the power of 7’ or ‘seventh power of 3’.
