In this segment, we will learn how to add decimal fractions.

    How to Add decimal fractions?

While adding the decimal fractions convert both the decimal fractions to like decimal fractions and then write the numbers one below the other in such a way that the digits in the decimal part of both the decimal fractions are aligned as per their place values.

    For example,

    (i) Add 24.15 and 2.008. Solution:

In the given problem, 2.008 has 3 decimal places, while 24.15 has 2.

24.15 can be written as 24.150.

Write the second number underneath first such that the decimal points come exactly one under the other.

    2 . 0 0 8
    + 2 4 . 1 5 0

So, the numbers are placed correctly. Now,

    2 . 0 0 8
    + 2 4 . 1 5 0
    2 6 . 1 5 8
