How to construct a line parallel to a given line, through a point not on the line?
A transversal drawn across two parallel lines creates pairs of equal corresponding angles. Let us understand the construction of a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line by the following steps:
Step 1: Draw a line BC and mark a point D which is not on the line.
Step 1
Step 2: Mark a point E on line BC and draw a line x from E passing through D.
Step 2
Step 3: With the compass at point E, adjust its width to more than half ED. With this radius draw an arc cutting line x at F and line BC at A.
