In the previous segment, we learnt about SSS conditions for congruence. In this segment, we will learn what is the RHS condition for congruence.
What is RHS (Right angle – Hypotenuse – Side) congruence condition?
RHS (Right angle – Hypotenuse – Side) condition is applicable only for right angled triangles.
This condition says that 2 right angled triangles are congruent if the hypotenuse and one side of a triangle are respectively equal to the hypotenuse and a side of another triangle.
In △ABC and △PQR, AC and PR are the hypotenuses.
Fig 1
BC = QR = 4 units AC = PR = 5 units
m∠ABC = m∠PQR = 90° (Right angle)
This satisfies the RHS congruence condition.
Hence, △ABC and △PQR are congruent.
