    Aluminum present in aluminum vessel reacts with washing soda and forms aluminate which is water soluble. Normally water can put in aluminum vessel because under normal conditions, when Al comes in contact with water, a protective layer of aluminum hydroxide which is formed.

    Washing soda first forms sodium hydroxide when reacts with water. 

    Na2CO3+H2O2NaOH+CO2

    In the presence of NaOH, the protective layer (aluminum hydroxide) reacts with NaOH and forms aluminate.
