The chloride ions which are present in the ionisation sphere get precipitated as $AgCI$ on reaction with AgNO₃ . Thus depending on the number of chloride present in the ionisation sphere will determine the no. of equivalents of $AgCI$ produced.

$[Co {({NH}_{3})}_{5} Cl] {Cl}_{2} + 2 {AgNO}_{3} ⟶ [Co {({NH}_{3})}_{5} Cl] {({NO}_{3})}_{2} + 2 AgCl .$
