    Solution:

    The above statement is true.
The Northern Plains are separated into four regions based on relief changes from north to south. There are four of them: bhabar, terai, bhangar, and khadar. After descending from the highlands, the rivers deposit pebbles in a narrow strip 8 to 16 km wide that runs parallel to the Shiwalik slopes. It's called bhabar. In this bhabar belt, all streams vanish. The streams and rivers reemerge south of this bhabar belt, forming the damp, marshy, and swampy region known as terai. The northern plain is mostly of older alluvium. It has a terrace-like aspect and is located above the floodplains of the rivers. This area is referred to as bhangar. Khadar refers to the newer, younger floodplain deposits. They are productive and replenished practically every year, making them excellent for intensive agriculture.
