Solution:
The Indus Water Treaty was signed in 1960. The Indus originates in the mountains of Attock and flows through Baltistan and Gilgit. The states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab make up little more than one-third of the Indus basin in India, while Pakistan is home to the remaining territory. India is only permitted to consume 20% of the entire water transported by the Indus river system, as stipulated by the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. Punjab, Haryana, and the western and southern regions of Rajasthan all utilise this water for irrigation.
