Sultan Alauddin Khalji employed Banjaras to carry grain to the towns' marketplaces. Emperor Jahangir also mentioned the Banjaras in his chronicles, who used to transport and sell grain in towns on the backs of their bullocks from various areas. They also provided foodstuffs to the Mughal forces. As a result, they were crucial in obtaining grains at low prices and transporting them to the regions where they were needed. They also reared and sold horses and livestock to wealthy folks. In addition, they manufactured and sold coarse sacks, ropes, straw matting, and reeds.
