There were twelve Dakshinapatha rulers. They surrendered to Samudragupta after being defeated by him. The attitude of Samudra Gupta towards the Dakshinapatha rulers was different from that towards the Aryavarta. Aryavarta was uprooted while Dakshinapatha was allowed to rule again.
