    Solution:

The given statement is true. The Vijayanagara Empire's capital throughout the fourteenth century was Hampi. The city has defences in place. A prosperous, affluent, and wealthy city near the Tungabhadra River, Hampi is described in Persian and European chronicles, particularly those written by the Portuguese. It is also said to have had many temples. The second-largest metropolis in the world at the time was located in the Vijayanagar Empire around 1500 AD. The historical temples, forts, and other structures at Hampi have made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are several more names for Hampi, including Pampa Kshetra, Kishkindha Kshetra, and even Bhaskara Kshetra. From the renowned Tungabhadra River Pampa, these names were developed. This was the renowned Battle of Talikota, which took place in a small hamlet in present-day Karnataka. The Sultanate beat Vijayanagar and put Aliya Rama Raya to death. Hampi was afterwards pillaged and destroyed, leaving it in the wreck it is in today.
