    Solution:

The problems of refugees, division in society, and development were all issues faced by the newly independent India. India faced enormous obstacles when it gained independence in August 1947. Eight million refugees from what is now Pakistan entered the nation due to the partition. Homes and employment had to be arranged for these refugees. Then there was the issue of the over 500 princely states, each of which was ruled by a maharaja or a nawab, and all of which needed to be convinced to join the new country. Moreover, India had a sizable population of about 345 million in 1947. There were differences between the elite and poor castes and between the predominantly Hindu community and other religious Indians, which was another problem. Lastly, the issue of development was also there.
