    x + 3y = 6    …(i)
    2x – 3y = 12  …(ii)
    On adding (i) and (ii), we get
    (x + 3y) + (2x – 3y) = 6 + 12
    3x = 18
    x = 6
    Putting the value of x in eq (i), we get
    6 + 3y = 6
    3y = 0
    y = 0  Therefore, the values of x and y are 6 and 0 respectively.
