It is made up of genetic material (either DNA or RNA) and a protein coat. Viruses can only reproduce inside living cells and are not capable of independent life.<\/p>\n<p>Viruses are very small, typically measuring just a few nanometers in diameter. They are too small to be seen with a regular microscope.<\/p>\n<p>Viruses are highly infectious, and can spread rapidly from one person to another. They can also be spread through contact with infected animals or contaminated surfaces.<\/p>\n<p>Viruses are not able to reproduce on their own. Most viruses are not able to reproduce on their own and must rely on the cells of their host to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Viruses can infect all types of cells, both animal and plant. They can also be found in a variety of environments, including water, soil, and air. Viruses are most commonly spread through contact with infected bodily fluids, such as blood, saliva, or semen. They can also be spread through contact with infected objects, such as doorknobs, door handles, or countertops. Molecular virology also includes the development of new methods for the diagnosis and treatment of viral infections.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most important discoveries in molecular virology was the identification of the genetic material of viruses. In the early 1950s, two researchers, James Watson and Francis Crick, proposed the structure of DNA, which is the genetic material of living cells.
