Genes are the basic units of heredity and are passed from parents to their offspring. Genes are found on chromosomes, and chromosomes are found in the nucleus of cells. The nucleus of a cell contains the genetic information that determines the characteristics of an organism. Genes are responsible for the physical and behavioral characteristics of an organism.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sex_Linked_Character\"><\/span>Sex Linked Character:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A sex-linked character is a gene that is located on a sex chromosome. There are two types of sex chromosomes: X and Y. Females have two X chromosomes, while males have one X and one Y chromosome. Sex-linked genes are passed down from parents to their children, but they are only expressed in the child if they inherit the gene from their mother. If a child inherits the gene from their father, they will not express the trait.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"X-Linked_Dominant_Inheritance\"><\/span>X-Linked Dominant Inheritance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>X-linked dominant inheritance is a type of genetic inheritance in which a mutation on one of the X chromosomes is responsible for the trait. This type of inheritance is seen in disorders such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy and hemophilia.<\/p>\n<p>In X-linked dominant inheritance, the mutation is dominant and therefore only one copy of the gene is necessary for the trait to be expressed. Males are more likely to be affected than females because they only have one X chromosome. Females can be affected if they have a mutated X chromosome from their father.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"X-linked_Recessive_Inheritance\"><\/span>X-linked Recessive Inheritance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>X-linked recessive inheritance is a pattern of inheritance in which a trait is carried on the X chromosome.
