Found in woody plants and some herbaceous plants. The cambium layer is a meristem, meaning that it is a region of actively dividing cells. Cells divide, producing two new cells: an inner xylem cell and an outer phloem cell. The cambium layer thickens the stem of a plant by producing more xylem and phloem cells. Cells of cambium are living cells. They have a nucleus and organelles.<\/p>\n<p>The cambium cells divide by mitosis. The secondary growth is responsible for the increase in the size of the plant, and it occurs due to the activity of the cambium, a layer of cells that is present between the bark and the wood. The cambium produces new cells on the inside of the bark and the outside of the wood, and these new cells lead to the growth of the plant.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cork_Cambium\"><\/span>Cork Cambium<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The cork cambium is a layer of actively dividing cells located just beneath the cork bark of a tree.
