Diastereomers are molecules that are not mirror images of each other, but they still have the same atoms connected in the same order. Constitutional isomers are molecules that have the same atoms connected in a different order.<\/p>\n<p>Enantiomers are important in pharmacology because they can have different effects on the body. For example, the drug thalidomide is an enantiomer that was prescribed to pregnant women in the 1950s and 1960s to help with morning sickness. However, it was later discovered that the enantiomer of thalidomide that was active in the body was the one that caused birth defects.<\/p>\n<p>Diastereomers are also important in pharmacology. Some drugs are made up of diastereomers, and the different diastereomers can have different effects on the body. For example, the drug Warfarin is made up of two diastereomers, R and S.
