In a solution, one substance is called the solvent and the other substance(s) are called solutes. The solvent is always present in greater quantity than the solutes. The solvent can be a liquid, a gas, or a solid. The solutes can be a liquid, a gas, or a solid.<\/p>\n
The physical and chemical properties of the solvent and solutes are unchanged in a solution. The properties of a solution depend on the properties of the solvent and solutes. For example, the boiling point of a solution is the boiling point of the solvent. The freezing point of a solution is the freezing point of the solvent. The density of a solution is the density of the solvent.<\/p>\n
The electrical conductivity of a solution is the electrical conductivity of the solvent.
