The method is most suited when<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The area of the study is very wide.<\/li>\n<li>The informants are educated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(b) Enumerator\u2019s Methods Under this Method enumerator himself fills the schedules after seeking information from the informants. This method is mostly used when<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>field of investigation is large.<\/li>\n<li>the investigation need specialised and skilled investigation.<\/li>\n<li>the investigators are well versed in the local language and cultural norms of the informants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(c) Collection of Secondary Data There are two main sources of secondary data<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Published sources<\/li>\n<li>Unpublished sources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(d) Published Sources Some of the published source of secondary data are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Government publication<\/li>\n<li>Semi-government publication<\/li>\n<li>Reports of committees and commissions<\/li>\n<li>Publications of trade associations<\/li>\n<li>Publication of research institutions<\/li>\n<li>Journals and papers<\/li>\n<li>Publication of research scholars<\/li>\n<li>International publication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(e) Unpublished Sources These data are collected by the government organisations and others, generally for their self use or office record.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In order to assess the reliability, suitability and adequacy of the data, the following points must be kept in mind<\/li>\n<li>Ability of the collecting organisation<\/li>\n<li>Objective and scope<\/li>\n<li>Method of collection<\/li>\n<li>Time and condition of organisation<\/li>\n<li>Definition of the unit<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(v) Census \u2018Method<\/strong><br \/>\nCensus method is that method in which data are collected covering every item of the universe or population relating to the problem under investigation. Merits and demerits of this method are given follows<br \/>\n(a) Merits<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reliable and accurate<\/li>\n<li>Less biased<\/li>\n<li>Extensive information<\/li>\n<li>Study of diverse characteristic<\/li>\n<li>Study of complex investigation<\/li>\n<li>Indirect investigation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(b) Demerits<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Costly<\/li>\n<li>Large manpower<\/li>\n<li>Not suitable for large investigation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>(vi) Sample Method<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is that method in which data is collected about the sample on a group of items taken from the populations for examination and conclusions are drawn on their basis. Every nth item of the numbered is selected as a sample item.<br \/>\n(v) Quota Sampling In this method, the population is divided into different groups or classes according to different characteristics of the population.<br \/>\n(vi) Convenience Sampling In this method, sampling is done by the investigator in such a manner that suits his convenience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reliability of Sampling Data<\/strong><br \/>\nIt depends mainly on the following factors<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Size of the sample<\/li>\n<li>Method of sampling<\/li>\n<li>Bias of correspondents and enumerators<\/li>\n<li>Training of enumerators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Important agencies at the national level which collect process and tabulate the statistical data.
