The day aims at bringing the international community together for preserving such historical monuments and sites as they are reflect our cultural and historical heritage and diversity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/infinitylearn.com\/surge\/english\/speech\/speech-on-world-heritage-day\/\"><strong>World Heritage Day<\/strong><\/a>\u201d is also called \u201cInternational Day for Monuments and Sites\u201d and is being observed since 1984 under the supervision of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"World_Heritage_Day_2024\"><\/span>World Heritage Day 2024<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>World Heritage Day 2024 is celebrated on Thursday, 18<sup>th<\/sup> April 2024. It is a time to reflect on the importance of preserving and protecting our cultural and natural heritage. It serves as a reminder of the significance of sites around the world that have been recognized for their outstanding universal value. These sites, represent the diversity of human history and the richness of our planet&#8217;s ecosystems. On this day, we honor the efforts of organizations and individuals dedicated to safeguarding these treasures for future generations to enjoy. It&#8217;s a time to raise awareness about the importance of heritage conservation and to encourage everyone to play a role in preserving our shared heritage for the benefit of humanity.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"World_Heritage_Day_2024_History\"><\/span>World Heritage Day 2024 History<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The International Day for monuments and sites was first proposed by the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites), in a conference held at the North African country of Tunisia on 18<sup>th<\/sup> April 1982.<\/p>\n<p>ICOMOS is a professional body found in 1965 with the prime objective of offering advice to UNESCO on World Heritage Sites. After the ICOMOS proposed an International Day for Monuments and Sites at the 1982 conference in Tunisia, the same was approved by the UNESCO General Assembly in 1983.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"World_Heritage_Day_2024_Significance\"><\/span>World Heritage Day 2024 Significance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A heritage site includes a man made structure or monument of history, which reflects the glorious past as well as rich historical and cultural diversity across the world.  Apart from being cultural and historical treasures, these sites also hold physical significance and there is an urgent need for preserving and protecting them.<\/p>\n<p>World over there are 1092 UNESCO\u2019s World Heritage Sites, out of which 54 are declared to be under threat and rest all need a collective effort by the governments and all other interested parties.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"UNESCOs_Agenda_for_the_World_Heritage_Day\"><\/span>UNESCO\u2019s Agenda for the World Heritage Day<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>UNESCO\u2019s mission on the world Heritage Day is to persuade countries to be a signatory of world heritage convention and nominate a heritage site in their soil, to be included in the world heritage list. Some of the most easy and effective ways to spend the World Heritage Day are given below-<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Visit_the_Monuments\"><\/span><strong>1) Visit the Monuments<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Visit the nearby historical monument and know its significance. Try to know the information related to its history like \u2013 in which era was it built? In which king\u2019s ruling was the monument built?
