What is the pineal gland?

  • The production of gonadotropins from the anterior Pituitary gland is blocked by melatonin thus affecting fertility. These hormones help to develop the ovaries and testes.

Pineal Gland Function

The pineal gland plays an important role in regulating female hormone levels. Also, it may affect fertility and the menstrual cycle in women. This factor is said to be partly due to the melatonin produced by the pineal gland. 

Studies suggest that melatonin may also help protect against cardiovascular issues such as atherosclerosis and high blood pressure. Further research may need to be done on potential melatonin activity.
