Meiosis I is associated with the reduction in number of chromosomes i.e., half of the number of chromosomes present in parent cell.
After meiosis I, the resultant daughter cells have half of the number of chromosomes present in parent cell but twice the amount of DNA in comparison to haploid gamete .
Meiosis II is associated with reduction in the amount of DNA i.e., half of the amount of DNA present in parent cell.
After meiosis II, daughter cells will contain half the number of chromosomes and half of the amount of DNA in comparison to the parent cell.
