The principle of meiosis applied in genetic engineering for the formation of recombinant DNA is
In meiotic recombination there is exchange of genetic material due to breaking of an attachment of DNA of non-sister chromatids of homologous chromosomes by recombinase which results in recombination. In genetic engineering by using restriction enzymes and DNA ligase the the vector DNA is opened and the desired gene of donor organism is inserted into the vector DNA to form rDNA.
