In Anaphase, due to increase in the length of polar fibers and decrease in the length of chromosomal spindle fibers, there is division of chromosomes at the centromere and each parental chromosome is divided into two daughter chromosomes. These daughter chromosomes are pulled towards respective poles and show their characteristic shape.
