Oxytocin hormone is produced by posterior lobe of pituitary under the influence of nervous stimulation. It causes contraction of the smooth muscles of the uterus and myoepithelial cells lining the duct of the mammary gland. Hence it is also called as birth hormone and milk ejection hormone.
