The JEE Main 2023 exam is divided into two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for admission to B.E./B. Tech courses and consists of three sections—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. There are 90 questions in total, with 75 compulsory questions and 15 optional ones.
Paper 1 is a computer-based test (CBT) with both Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Numerical-based questions. On the other hand, Paper 2 is for B. Arch/B. Planning courses, with three sections: Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning-based questions.
This paper includes MCQs and drawing questions, and candidates must attempt 5 out of 10 numerical-based questions in the Mathematics section. Both papers follow a marking scheme where correct answers earn 4 points, and incorrect answers result in a 1-point deduction.
