1. Analyze the Question Paper
The first step after getting the question paper is to spend some time analyzing the difficulty level of each section. Some of you might directly jump into solving the question, but that is not the correct approach. Also, start marking the OMR sheet as you move forward and do not keep it for the last. Remember that a last-minute hurry can lead to mistakes. One of the most frequent problems an aspirant face during the exam is – not having enough time to go through all the questions. In addition, they even miss out on the familiar and easy questions to which they know the answer. Be wise and move forward with a strategy before you start answering.
2. Easy First, Difficult Last
The questions in the NEET paper are grouped in subject order so, you might find easy or familiar questions anywhere in the paper. The trick is to leave the questions that you find difficult for later and solve the easy ones first. Any question should not take more than 1.5 minutes to answer. Even if you are mid-way in solving a question, you can return to it towards the end. Each question carries an equal mark so, make sure you answer the easy ones first and solve the tough ones later.
3. Use the Elimination Method
You don’t always need to know the right answer. Sometimes, eliminating the wrong ones leaves you with the correct ones. Remember, you just need to find the correct answer among the given options. Many times, aspirants look at the option only after completely solving the question. Instead, what you should do is take a glance at the options – like in biology and chemistry, where you could be able to eliminate one or two options early on. When working on physics or physical chemistry questions, you can get a hint at each step of solving the solution. It could be like – the answer is more or less than a specific option.
4. Tick-Circle-Cross Method
This method is an effective way to save time in the NEET exam. Tick the question you have already answered. Circle the questions you would like to answer, but it will take time, and cross the question if you don’t know the concept or are unfamiliar with it. This technique will save your time as you will not waste your time on crossed-out questions and re-focus on the circled ones in your second run towards the end.
5. Organize your Time
You must pre-plan your exam time. You might start with your favorite subject, but you must not spend more than a specified time on each one. Consider this – Biology: 60 min, Physics: 30 min, Chemistry: 30 min. In this way, you will have an extra 60 min to re-work the question circled by you. Expert faculty from Infinity Learn suggest starting with Biology first to save time. Also, keep marking your answers immediately after solving, and do not wait for the last moment to fill the OMR.
6. Keep Calm
The most important thing during any exam is to stay calm and focused. Ensure that you do not panic when you cannot solve consecutive questions. Solve the easy ones first, and you will gain confidence. Keep trying on the tough ones later.
Above all, do enough practice before the exam by solving mock tests and previous year papers. Infinity Learn Test Series – ILTS and mock test papers will help you get the necessary exercise.
