Batch size affects JEE and NEET preparation less than most students and parents assume. A smaller batch gives each student more access to the teacher, but it does not decide a rank on its own. What batch size mainly changes is the amount of personal attention a student receives. Doubt sessions, mentorship and regular feedback can make up for much of that gap.
This article looks at what batch size influences, what it does not, and which factors matter more.
Batch size has the clearest effect on two things: attention and teaching pace.
In a smaller batch, you receive more time to solve doubts and the teacher can look more closely at your weak areas. There is also more room to participate in the lesson and to speak out.
Another thing is pace. Often a huge batch will have students at different levels. So the training has to happen at a pace that is suitable for the whole group, which may not be your pace.
This is a big concern in India, where classrooms are typically overcrowded. A survey of Delhi schools by Press Trust of India finds the average number of kids per school is 808 and the pupil-teacher ratio is 28:1, an indication of how thin individual attention can get as numbers grow.
Before choosing, ask how each batch actually runs. A smaller group may offer more opportunities to speak, but clear teaching and useful feedback still matter most.
| Factor | Smaller batch | Larger batch |
| Asking questions | May offer more chances to ask during class. | Check whether separate doubt sessions are available. |
| Teaching pace | Ask whether teachers revisit topics when students struggle. | Ask how students catch up if the group moves ahead. |
| Personal feedback | Check whether teachers review individual mistakes. | Check whether mentors or subject staff provide individual reviews. |
| Peer interaction | A smaller group may feel easier to participate in. | A wider peer group may appeal to students who enjoy competition. |
During a demo, notice what happens when a student gets an answer wrong. The explanation and follow-up can tell you more about the support available than the advertised batch size.

JEE and NEET toppers do not come from a single batch format. Top ranks have come from both large and small batches. A 2023 study of Indian secondary schools points the same way. Scores stayed roughly flat across class sizes of 27 to 51 students.
Habits inside the batch often count for more. Students who ask questions early tend to gain more than those who wait to be noticed. A strong test series and good practice material shape results in any batch.

Batch size matters most for students who need regular one-on-one support. For them, a smaller group is the better choice.
A headcount alone cannot tell you whether a batch will suit you. Check whether you can ask questions, get useful feedback, and follow the teaching pace. Students who need frequent explanations should look closely at access to teachers, while independent learners may be comfortable in a larger group with reliable doubt support. Use the table below to compare your needs.
| Student Profile | Batch Size Considerations |
| Proactive and highly self-motivated | Batch size doesn't matter as much |
| Needs lots of one-on-one attention | Prefer small batch strongly |
| Enjoys competing against peers | Competitive batch larger may help |
| Find it hard to ask questions in large groups | Need help with a smaller batch or a 1:1 doubt |
Once a student identifies the right profile, the choice becomes much simpler.
Online coaching accepts the full argument silently. And when the format changes, the normal fears about huge courses become less important.

Just contemplate that concept. The live courses can be huge, but the recorded lectures allow you to revise at your own pace. There will be no time in class to quarrel over questions. You can have different doubt-clearing routes for a large live batch. AI-based customization means you get personal attention even in a big cohort and stats tracking your weak areas work regardless of how many students are on the site. To put it in layman's terms, your experience is no longer dependent on the live batch number.
Before you sign up somewhere, don't just glance at the headline statistic, but ask the real questions:
The responses tell you a lot more than the batch size figure could ever indicate in isolation.
Infinity Learn keeps its live batches small, at 20 to 25 students across its JEE courses and NEET courses. Dedicated doubt-clearing sessions and 24×7 in-app support mean attention does not depend on class numbers alone.
AINA analytics give each student insights into strengths, weak areas, accuracy and time management. Regular mentorship helps students stay on track, so no one gets lost in the group. Recordings of live classes stay available for revision long after each session ends.
Batch size is important, but it's only part of the tale. Class size research keeps showing that your JEE or NEET rank is generally as determined by the quality of teaching, the doubt-solving process and your personal discipline as the number of individuals sitting next to you. So don't decide only on batch size. See the whole arrangement.

Not always. It receives more attention but if the training is not enough, it means nothing. It is preferable to teach a large batch well than a small batch poorly. Quality first, size second.
Absolutely and they do every year. Most of the toppers studied in big batches and relished the competition. It wasn't a small class carrying them, it was their own work and fantastic practice material.
That's a game changer. The recorded lectures, dedicated doubt channels and AI-based personalization mean you get individual attention even in a big cohort, so the live batch number matters a lot less than it used to.
Ask the true student-to-teacher ratio, how doubts are resolved outside the class, are there smaller sessions or mentorship in the batch and how your growth is monitored. The answers beat the headline figure.
Infinity Learn keeps its live JEE and NEET batches at 20-25 students. Each student gets specialist doubt support, AI-based personalization and individual analytics. Keeping the batches to a realistic level ensures every student gets actual attention.
