CBSE Class 11 2025 -26

By Swati Singh

Updated on 10 Jul 2025, 14:51 IST

CBSE Class 11 is the first year after students finish the basic 10 years of school. At this stage, students can pick a stream that matches their interests and future plans. The main streams are Science, Commerce, and Humanities. Science is split into two groups: Medical and Non-medical. If you want to study medicine later, you take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. If you are interested in engineering, you choose Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

Recently, CBSE has started letting students mix subjects from different streams. For example, you could take History with Biology or Physics with Geography. However, when you apply for entrance exams after Class 12, like for engineering or medical courses, you still need the standard subject combinations—PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Math) for engineering and PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) for medical. So, even though you can choose any subjects now, you still need to follow the old combinations if you want to take certain entrance exams later.
