Menocchio, an Italian miller, formulated a view of God and creation. In the 16th century, Menocchio, an Italian miller, began reading books available in his locality. He reinterpreted the message of the Bible and formulated a vision of God and creation that outraged the Roman Catholic Church. When the Roman Church began to crack down on heresy, Menocchio was arrested twice and eventually executed. The church punished Menocchio for his heretical and blasphemous comments regarding the messages of the Bible, God's vision, and human creation. During the trial, he asserted that the only sin was to harm one's neighbour and that blasphemy harmed no one but the blasphemer.
