Rajputs are a good example to show how they joined the Mughals. Many of the Rajput families used to marry their daughters in the Mughal household and then received high positions. The mother of Jahangir was a Kachhwaha princess, the daughter of the Rajput ruler of Amber, which is the present day known as Jaipur. The mother of Shah Jahan was a Rathore princess who was the daughter of the Rajput ruler of Marwar which today is known as Jodhpur. However, many families refused to join the Mughals too. The Sisodiya Rajputs of Mewar are one such example.
