Detailed Solution

Rich peasants became supporters of the Civil Disobedience Movement as they wanted to support Mahatma Gandhi because they respected him.
Rich peasants like the Patidars of Gujarat and the Jats of Uttar Pradesh became supporters of this movement. For them, the fight for swaraj was a struggle against high revenues for goods and services. Rich peasants were hit by the trade depression and falling prices quite challenging as they used to produce commercial crops. Therefore, they could not pay the government's revenue demand. In addition, the British did not agree to reduce the revenue demand, which made the rich peasants lose hope and left no choice but to join the Civil Disobedience Movement.
