Detailed Solution

Raziyya became the ruler of the Delhi Sultanate in 1236 CE.
Raziyya is the only woman in the subcontinent's medieval history to become a Delhi Sultanate ruler. After deposing his son Ruknuddin Firoz, Iltutmish nominated his daughter Raziyya to succeed him as the ruler of Delhi. Hence, she assumed the throne in 1236 CE and ruled until 1240 CE. However, the nobles of her court criticised Raziyya's promotion to Sultana. Moreover, as they believed that working under a woman was a great shame, many Turkish chiefs turned against her.
