Detailed Solution

Theravada Buddhism was popular in Southeast Asia.
Theravada Buddhism was the older form of Buddhism. It was popular in Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia. The term itself came into use later, but the Theravada tradition upholds the monastic path. It also consists of the oldest recorded sayings of Lord Buddha, which are collectively called the Pali canon. The texts associated with Theravada Buddhism were inscribed in the Pali language by monks in Sri Lanka in the first century C.E.
