Robert Owen built a cooperative called New Harmony.
Robert Owen (1771-1858), a leading English industrialist at the time, planned to develop a cooperative society named the New Harmony in Indiana, United States. Compared to this, the other socialists felt it could not have wide-scale exposure. Rather they demanded governments encourage the idea of forming cooperatives. These are the cooperatives that would produce goods together and would divide the profits among themselves according to work done by the members. Other theorists like Louis Blanc encouraged the idea of cooperatives by replacing capitalist enterprises.
