Detailed Solution

London came to be known as a finishing centre.
A close relationship formed between the town and the countryside within the proto-industrialisation system. Merchants were situated in towns, but the majority of the work was done in the countryside. A merchant clothier in England acquired wool from a wool stapler and transported it to the spinners; the spun yarn was then taken to weavers, fullers, and dyers in succeeding phases of manufacturing. Before the export merchant sold the cloth on the international market, it was finished in London. London became designated as a finishing centre.
